Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA)

Tax-deferred investing is available through deposits into an IRA account. You can save up to $5,500 annually for retirement. We offer the same competitive rates and terms as our certificate of deposits. Ask how we can help you invest your direct rollovers from a qualified plan or transfer your IRA from another financial institution. An Athol Credit Union IRA account can provide you with the most competitive interest rate with the added advantage of tax-deferred savings. Please call one of our member service specialists at 978-249-3527 to see if you are eligible.

Traditional IRA

Traditional IRAs keep your accumulated earnings tax-deferred, making it easier for you to plan for and achieve your long-term financial goals. Assets can be moved to your IRA from maturing Qualified Plans or a Tax Sheltered Annuity, and some contributions are tax deductible.

There are no penalties for distributions once you've reached the age of 59 1/2, or for certain other qualified reasons. There are certain restrictions, and you must begin taking minimum distributions upon reaching the age of 70 1/2. Contact us today, and we'll help you choose the IRA that best suits your needs, in the short and long term. Please call one of our member service specialists at 978-249-3527

Roth IRA

Roth IRAs are an excellent way to plan for the future without having to worry about future taxes. So long as your money remains in the IRA for a minimum 5 year period, you pay no taxes on your earnings when withdrawn for a qualified distribution. Qualified distributions include: any contributions made after age 59 1/2, death benefits, first time homebuyer distributions (up to $10,000.00), and distributions by age 70 1/2; however, contributions are not tax deductible. We can answer any of your Roth IRA questions when you meet with a member service specialist. Please call us at 978-249-3527
